The Book of Bond, James Bond

Not since the 1930’s when author Robert J. Hogan described the daring exploits of America’s flying spy “G‑8” and his battle aces, Nippy Weston and Bull Martin, who flew their Spads over the Western Front in WWI, have we witnessed anyone comparable in stature to James Bond.

“G‑8” and his comrades not only swept the Fokker D‑7’s from the skies, but often times, as prisoners behind the German lines, they also had to do battle with a fiendish new plan or a machine of the German High Command in order to save the Allies from total destruction. Sound familiar? Oh yes, they were wonderful stories indeed!

Such stirring adventures contained the same ingredients as the future assignments of James Bond.

On Tuesday, January 15, 1952, Ian Fleming sat down before his twenty‑year‑old Imperial portable typewriter and, for the first time, placed the words “James Bond” to paper. In doing so, he changed the lives of thousands and provided pure enjoyment to millions more throughout the world.

Since that time, millions of words have been written about James Bond and Ian Fleming and millions of books have been sold detailing the exploits of the world’s most famous secret agent.

However, for the avid Bond reader, film enthusiast, and/or memorabilia collector, there seemed to be a void; the lack of a quick and easy reference to “all things Bond”. So many assignments, villains, and women over the years. And what about the automobiles, the weapons, and the continuous parade of characters that have passed across the Bond stage? After forty‑seven years, recollections were beginning to fade.

Until now, there has never been an all‑inclusive reference work on James Bond, nor one compiled in the “encyclopedia/almanac” format. The answer of course is The Book of Bond, James Bond. This is not a picture book nor a book of trivia, but rather a true encyclopedia and complete reference work.

When you read the Table of Contents you will realize that The Book of Bond, James Bond does indeed afford the reader quick, easy access to “all things Bond” — the most comprehensive work of its kind — together with information never before available to Bond enthusiasts. You will also note the ease and amplitude afforded by the encyclopedic plan, with the innumerable references easily found in the alphabetic format throughout the book.

Every attempt has been made to ensure accuracy of the subject matter by going directly to the source. Hopefully The Book of Bond, James Bond will answer all the questions you may have regarding this fascinating and legendary figure of our time.
